A hay hauler out of Hagerman pulled in last fall with a gooseneck trailer that had cracked clean through the neck where it ties into the deck — loaded, in the field, two miles from the highway. He limped it home and called us. We pulled the deck back, cut out the cracked section, plated and boxed the neck heavier than it left the factory, and had him back on the road the next afternoon. That kind of custom fabrication and welding Jerome Idaho work is most of what comes through the fab side of the shop — broken steel that has to be back in service yesterday, or a custom build that has to be right the first time.

Out here, fab work isn't a hobby category. It's gooseneck hitches that won't pull through the bed floor, flatbeds sized to the truck, hay spears and bale-bed mounts, loader brackets, implement hitches, and the occasional one-off bumper for a hunting rig. We build it to work, and we build it so the next person who looks at the weld knows it was done right.

What we build and repair

  • Custom bumpers — front and rear, winch mounts, hitch receivers integrated.
  • Hitches — receivers, gooseneck balls, fifth-wheel mounts, pintle setups.
  • Flatbeds — single wheel and dually, with headache racks and toolboxes.
  • Headache racks, ladder racks, tool box mounts, and bed dividers.
  • Trailer repair — cracked frames, broken cross members, deck replacement, ramp work.
  • Farm equipment — implement hitches, loader brackets, hay spears, bale-bed mounts.
  • Frame repair on trucks and trailers — cracks, broken brackets, mount reinforcement.
  • Custom exhaust fabrication — mandrel-bent tubing, header back on diesels and gas.
  • Skid plates, rock sliders, and mounts for off-road and hunting rigs.

What welding processes we run

MIG for most production and structural work. TIG when the job calls for a clean, controlled weld — stainless, thinner material, visible welds on a bumper or a show piece. Stick when we're outside, on dirty steel, or on heavy material where stick makes more sense than dragging a MIG out in the wind. Aluminum is case-by-case — call with the job and we'll tell you whether it fits our shop or whether we'd send you somewhere better suited.

How a custom build actually goes

Custom work starts with the truck or trailer in front of us. We take measurements, talk through how you actually use the rig, and put a written estimate together before any steel gets cut. For bigger builds we'll sketch it out so you can see what you're paying for. Once it's approved we order material, build it, fit it, paint or coat it, and install. You leave with photos of the build process if you want them — useful for resale or insurance.

Repair work is faster. Bring the broken part or the whole rig, we look at it, give you a number, and get it on the bench. Most trailer and frame repairs turn around in a day or two depending on parts and paint.

How fab fits the rest of the shop

Fabrication ties into almost everything else we do. Custom exhaust runs through our exhaust repair bay. Frame and mount work on diesels overlaps with diesel repair. Trailer and reefer bracket work hands off to trailer & reefer repair. Fleet customers get fab work scheduled right alongside their PMs through fleet services. The full menu is on the services page.

Honest quotes, honest welds

Custom work is one of the easiest places to get nickel-and-dimed, so we keep it simple — written estimate before we start, a call before we go past it, and welds we'd put on our own trucks. Bring the rig by or send pictures with measurements and we'll get you a quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of welding do you do?

MIG, TIG, and stick. Mild steel and stainless are routine. We handle aluminum on a case-by-case basis depending on the job — call and we'll tell you straight.

Can you build custom bumpers, hitches, and racks?

Yes. Receivers, gooseneck and fifth-wheel hitches, custom front and rear bumpers, ladder racks, headache racks, and tool box mounts. We design around the truck, not a generic template.

Do you repair trailer frames and farm equipment?

Every week. Cracked trailer frames, broken implement hitches, ripped flatbed deck mounts, busted loader brackets — if it's steel and it's broken, bring it by for a look.

Can you build a custom flatbed?

Yes. Single-wheel and dually flatbeds, headache racks, gooseneck balls, in-bed toolboxes, and lighting. We size the build to the truck and how it'll be used.

Do you do exhaust fabrication?

Yes. Custom exhaust on diesels and gas trucks, header back, mandrel-bent tubing, and quiet or loud as the customer wants. We tie it in with our exhaust repair work.

How do I get a quote on a fab job?

Bring the truck, trailer, or part by the shop, or send pictures with measurements. Custom work needs eyes on it — we'll give a written estimate before any steel gets cut.
